"O. L. Barritt Hazel Dell Dead" - O. L. Barritt, Pioneer resident of Pottawattamie County, died Monday morning at the Jennie Edmundson Hospital following an operation. He was well-known in Hazel Dell Township, having lived on the same farm for the past seventy-two years. He was former steward of the county home at McClelland.
Mr. Barritt was born August 3, 1848, in Delaware County and came to Pottawattamie County and Hazel Dell Township in 1851, where he resided until his death.
In 1872 he was married to Miss Emma Staffanson to which union were born seven children, all of whom survived him. They are 5 sons, William O. of Hazel Dell, Benjamin F., Burl C. and Ed C. of Council Bluffs, and Everett of Hemingford, Neb., and 2 daughters, Mrs. Harry Scott of Council Bluffs and Mrs. Charles Perkins of Sergeant's Bluffs, Ia. He is also survived by one brother, C. W. Atwood and one sister, Lucinda of Council Bluffs, and 24 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held from Woodrings Chapel Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock and from Hazel Dell Church at 2 o'clock. Masons will have charge of the services at the grave.
